The Better Business Summit takes place over two days at Manchester Metropolitan University Business School followed by a day in Nature.

Speakers include purpose-driven business leaders from Patagonia, Toms, Swizzels, Dry Robe, Intrepid Travel and many more!

Our hosts for the conference are the amazing Ngunan Adamu , Sophie Lee and Jamie Bettles who will be taking our attendees on an engaging journey through insightful discussions, interactive sessions, and inspiring keynote addresses.

THURSDAY 16TH JANUARY

The below schedule highlights the main areas of the conference. Keynotes and Fireside Chats are taking place across two stages, with Workshops and Catalyst Conversations within additional breakouts.

  • Kick off your day with an energizing 5K run through Manchester’s vibrant city centre. Whether you’re a seasoned runner or just looking for a fun way to get moving, this guided run offers a great opportunity to connect with fellow attendees, take in the city sights, and boost your energy before the summit.

    We’ll start at 7:30 at Green Lab (M1 1FY), begin with a stretch, head out for a relaxed-paced run suitable for all levels, and finish back at Green Lab. Start your summit experience refreshed, recharged, and ready to make an impact! Bag Drop Available.

  • Nicky Leach and Hannah Keartland will start the walk in Mayfield Park, less than 5 Minutes walk from Manchester Piccadilly Station at the Bathhouse gate entrance and finish up at Manchester Met, ready for the Summit. Feel free to bring your coffee and croissant with you on the walk. Otherwise, there are plenty of places to grab breakfast at the end - we’ll make sure we finish by 9am to give you plenty of time before the programme kicks off at 9.30am.

    How do we build a business where positive impact and financial sustainability are mutually reinforcing? This walk round Mayfield Park is designed to give you time and space if you’re a business leader and struggling with the following challenges:

  • In 1869 a 4,030km Inland Customs Line ran across the length of India, to enforce a salt tax. Within seven years, a famine engulfed India and between six and ten million people starved to death due to poor British food policies like this. Hannah Cox plans to run the entire length in just 100 days, finishing at her Dad's childhood home in Calcutta. Her aim is to raise £1,000,000 for communities impacted by climate change. Project Salt Run highlights that when we take more than we need, we compromise the ability of future generations to meet their needs.

  • Katya Willems is offering free 15 minute 1:1 EFT sessions at the Horizon Stage on Wednesday and Thursday in the lunch breaks. Book here

    EFT is great for lightening and overcoming all sorts of emotional blocks - eg procrastination, self doubt, anxiety, anger, people pleasing + lack of boundaries. It's also a brilliant confidence booster. So perfect for smoothing out those nerves at a two day Summit.

    The way EFT works is by tapping gently on meridian (or pressure) points around the body which then send calming signals to the amygdala (the part of the brain that processes emotions).

HORIZON STAGE will be run by Sophie Lee, making sure the vibes are great and the sessions flow smoothly all day.

WORKSHOPS

CATALYST CONVERSATIONS run by Jamie Bettles, helping you engage and dive into exciting debates,fostering a community where perspectives are broadened, and meaningful connections are made.

  • Like the popular card game that you don't play with your nan at Christmas, Climate Against Humanity, hosted by Molly from Effable, will explore the climate crimes and conundrums while letting you, our audience, fill in the blanks. Come along, play along, and get serious about climate and business.

  • In this interactive session led by Apolline Roger at ClientEarth, we invite you to reflect on the barriers and gaps that prevent you from pursuing your regenerative goals or from making progress more easily.

    This is a chance to share your experiences and challenges openly, without seeking immediate answers, but with a focus on understanding your unique needs.
    Through thoughtful discussion, we will explore how new deep legal codes, legal practices and scaffolding could play a pivotal role in helping overcome these obstacles.
